Bedrijfsomschrijving MV Plancius was built in 1976 as an oceanographic research vessel for the Royal
Dutch Navy and was named Hr. Ms. Tydeman.
The vessel was completely rebuilt as a 114-passenger vessel in 2009 and complies
with the latest SOLAS-regulations (Safety Of Life At Sea). MV Plancius is classed
by Lloyds Register in London and flies the Dutch flag.
The vessel is equipped with a diesel-electric propulsion system which reduces the
noise and vibration of the engines considerably. The 3 diesel engines generate 1.230
horse-power each, giving the vessel a speed of 10 - 12 knots. The vessel is
ice-strengthened and was specially built for oceanographic voyages.
Functieomschrijving
• Overall responsible for the technical systems of the ship.
Develops, controls and executes plans for the maintenance of technical
installations and equipment throughout the ship.

Maintain any Planned Maintenance System up to date and complete all
relevant documentation.
•
Ensure optimum efficiency in the use of fuel, lubricating oil, spare parts and
stores.
•
Ensure proper completion of the Engine Room and Oil Record Book and
other administration and documentation.

• Takes charge of an engine room watch during absence of Chief Engineer
Maintains and controls ISM/SMS, MARPOL and other legislation to make
sure the vessel is in compliance and ready for inspections at all times.
