Marine Section Leader is not really a Chief Officer. He is just a leader of couple nigga roustabouts..
Mr. Sundrive, sorry, but what are you talking about? What has
To do a "chief mate " topic here :)))
Besides, in NORMAL companies, Marine
Section Leader is a HEAD of Marine department, which normally consists of: Assist MSL or Barge engineer, Senior DPO's+ DPO's, Lead crane operators( or in some companies deck pushers and bosuns) 4x crane operators, 2x assistant crane ops, roustabouts, painters, and in some very good companies , he is in charge of NDT team, Ro paxes as well.
In total, MSL is in charge of 23 to 30 persons on board modern drillship as for example. It all depends where you work, type of unit, and location.
Even on stack units Msl has its own officers and deck boys, in normal companies.
So yes, he is not just a conventional chief mate, he is much more thant that ;)
