The Mechanic 3 assists in repair and maintenance work on all vessels machinery and equipment.
He may be assigned to use the special machinery in the mechanical workshop.
Reports to:
Engineers 2 and 3
Liaises with:
Mechanics 1 and 2
Electricians 3
Safety Officer
Storekeeper
Responsibilities:
That all tasks assigned to him are carried out in a safe, effective and efficient manner in accordance with existing safety procedures, legislation, guidelines, established sound working practices and Company Policy.
Tasks:
To assist in repair and Maintenance work on all machinery and equipment in engine room spaces, cranes, deck equipment, accommodation and galley
To fabricate parts using the special machinery in the mechanical workshop
Adhere to safety procedures and safe working practices at all times
To assist in operational tasks such as operating equipment or special tools for the project at hand
Participate in drills, musters and training exercises
