Drilling Superintendent for future project in March, Mexico

Good morning dear All,

For the future project in Mexico, which will start operations in March already we are looking for Drilling Superintendent.

We are looking for the exploratory drilling crew for one year, it will be done in 3 phases of which we are now in phase 1; Planning (Phase 2 is Operation and Phase 3 is Closing the project).

Duties and responsibilities:

•   Leader of the operating team, representing the Company in all drilling related activities required to drill, evaluate and complete a well.
•   Ensure that the approved drilling program is executed without deviations on a safety manner according to Petronas HSE policies and when deviations become necessary, put in place MOC’s (Management of Change) with relevant risk assessment and submit for approval.
•   Conduct morning calls and review morning reports from the drilling rig with the Drilling Supervisor at the rig site and the Drilling Engineer. Ensure the operations are conducted in the best interest of the Company.  Discusses future operations plans with the Drilling Supervisor and the Drilling Engineer to optimize and eliminate problems (SID).
•   Encourage an atmosphere of teamwork among the drilling staff, rig site personnel, service providers and other disciplines.
•   Ensure reporting routines are fulfilled.
•   Produce/review bridging documents.
•   Be the leader on drilling unit acceptance process responsible to ensure that rig inspection noncompliance punch lists are closed.
•   Active on all phases of the procurement process, using the experience to produce fit for purpose scopes of work and technical/commercial reviews as required.
•   Ensure that service personnel going to rig site meet the minimum competence requirements as per contract terms.
•   Conduct daily meetings through the term of the contracts, with service providers, to fine tune efficiently mobilization of resources to help reduce or eliminate any potential problems.
•   Provide technical trouble shooting when problems occur on the drilling rig.
•   Monitor drilling expenditures on a daily basis with the goal of drilling the most cost-effective well possible.
•   Review equipment planning with Drilling Engineer, Drilling Supervisors and the Material & Logistics Coordinator to ensure timely equipment arrivals on logistic base and rig site to eliminate lack or oversupply of equipment.
•   Monitor and intervene if required on the call of for personnel as specified by the drilling Supervisor.
•   Ensure that wells are drilled in a manner that meets Subsurface objectives.
•   Technical review of all drilling programs and final well reports.
•   Perform wellsite inspections/visit to ensure that safety programs are conducted and monitored by the drilling contractor and service companies in a manner consistent with HSE policies. Encourage and support HSE training and implementation of procedures and guidelines
•   Liases with subsurface geology and production teams to ensure well objectives met.
•   Accountable in responding to queries and keeping Petronas management well informed.
•   Reports to Drilling Manager


Required qualifications, experience and competencies:

•   Minimum diploma and additional professional certification.
•   20 years of experience in drilling operations with minimum 10 years in deep water been 5 years as Drilling Superintendent.
•   Familiar with moored and DP units.
•   Experience with MPD (Management pressure Drilling) - Constant Bottom Hole pressure or Pressured Mud Cap Drilling with RCD below tension ring.
•   Fluent in English and Spanish.
•   BOSIET and IWCF Level 4 certification.
•   Experience as drilling superintendant in Mexico and GOM area (Add Point)


Important to keep in mind and profiles without the following are not accepted:
-   Deepwater experience
-   Language English AND Spanish speaking
-   IWCF Level 4 (http://www.iwcf.org/training-qualifications/certificates)
-   Looking for candidates that have experience with operators (ENI, Shell, BP, Exxon, Total or any other)
