If you are looking for a shore based career but are unsure how to transfer your skill base then the solution maybe:Lloyd’s Register’s Superintendent Training Programme.Lloyd’s Register offers a Superintendent training programme, which provides a solid foundation for developing experience for those new to superintendency and for seafarers looking for onshore superintendent opportunities.In today’s marine industry there is an ever increasing breadth of subject areas about which superintendents must not only be aware but must have an understanding, so that reasoned decisions can be made quickly.The modular format of the programme allows freedom and flexibility of when and where to undertake the learning, and the blend of e-learning and classroom modules allows you to benefit from face-to-face contact with experienced Lloyd’s Register staff and other learners, while enabling you to undertake a proportion of the learning remotely.The remote learning will be through electronic magazines, blending together videos, audio, coursework, reading and exercises.You will view videos and listen to audio from Lloyd’s Register’s top experts, and experienced ex-superintendents, in a wide range of topics from making the transition from aboard ship to a shore-based role, STCW, health and safety, emergency planning, and many more.The extent of the programme is up to you; with the e-magazines at its core, you then select between five and ten additional classroom modules, dependent on your individual needs.The modular formatCore elements in the e-magazines• Basic ship management• Crewing and resourcing• Commercial and chartering parties• Emergency planning and contingencies• People skills and communicationClassroom modules (minimum of five) Completion of five of the following classroom modules, together with the e-magazines will lead to a Superintendent Programme bronze certificate.Completion of eight of the following classroom modules, together with the e- magazines will lead to a Superintendent Programme silver certificate.Completion of 10 of the following classroom modules, together with the e- magazines will lead to a Superintendent Programme gold certificate.• Classification and Statutory Requirements• Machinery Damage and Repair• Hull Inspection, Damage and Repair• Risk Management and Incident Investigation• Materials, Welding and NDE – The Basics• Practical Approach to Port State Control• Essential Dry Docking• ISM Internal Auditor, Lead Auditor and DPA• ISPS CSO/SSO• ILO MLC (2006) – 2day or 3 day• LNG as fuel• Introduction to Bulk Carriers• A Practical Approach to Ship Surveys• Understanding the Human Element• Liquefied Natural Gas Ships• Liquefied Petroleum Gas ShipsOptional modulesCompletion of all 10 of the above classroom courses, together with the e-learning plus one or more of the optional modules below will lead to a Superintendent Programme platinum certificate.• Shaft Alignment• Protective Coatings• Electrical and Control• Ship New ConstructionTo find out more about how we can help you please visit us at:www.lr.org/training or contact us at marine-training@lr.org
